In the game’s final moments, substitute João Milson scored for Angola, securing all three points.
This marks Ghana’s first home defeat in Kumasi since losing to South Africa in the 2000 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana will next face Niger in the second round on September 9 in Berkane, Morocco.
