The Black Queens of Ghana are set to mark their return to the continental stage at the 2025 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, following a seven-year absence from the prestigious tournament.

Ghana will begin their Group Stage campaign on Monday, July 7, with a tough encounter against reigning champions South Africa. They will then face Mali on Friday, July 11, and complete the group fixtures against Tanzania on Monday, July 14, 2025.

This year’s edition of WAFCON is scheduled to run from Saturday, July 5 to Saturday, July 26, 2025, with teams from across the continent competing for Africa’s ultimate women’s football prize.

Ahead of the tournament, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has launched a comprehensive media guide prepared by the Black Queens’ media team. The guide features motivational messages from key figures such as CAF 2nd Vice President and GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, and Ghana’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, both rallying national support for the team.

The guide also offers detailed insights into the Black Queens’ qualification journey, match fixtures, player and staff profiles, and a strategic overview of Ghana’s Women’s Football development plan.

Ghana, a three-time runner-up in WAFCON history (1998, 2002, and 2006), last reached the podium in 2016 with a third-place finish. The team is now on a mission to reclaim its place among Africa’s elite after enduring a challenging phase in recent years.
