Asante Kotoko have sealed their place in the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup final after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea in their semi-final clash at the T&A Stadium in Tarkwa on Sunday.

In a closely contested encounter, it took an 80th-minute strike from Albert Amoah to separate the two sides, sending the Porcupine Warriors into the final and setting up a mouth-watering clash against lower-tier side Golden Kick FC.

Kotoko started the game brightly, controlling possession and probing for openings, but Berekum Chelsea remained resilient at the back, frustrating the Reds throughout the first half. Both sides created few clear-cut chances, with Kotoko’s best opportunity falling to Amoah midway through the opening half, but his effort was well saved.

The second half followed a similar pattern as Kotoko kept pressing while Chelsea looked to hit on the counter. Just when it seemed the game might head to extra time, Kotoko found the breakthrough. A well-worked move down the flank was finished off by Albert Amoah, who calmly slotted home in the 80th minute to spark wild celebrations among the Kotoko faithful.

The result means Kotoko will now face Golden Kick FC in the final of the MTN FA Cup. Golden Kick booked their spot on Saturday with a commanding 3-1 win over Attram De Visser at the same venue, a result that shocked many following their impressive giant-killing run, including the elimination of record winners Hearts of Oak.
