Asante Kotoko interim head coach, Abdul Karim Zito, has sent a strong message ahead of the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup final, making it clear that his side will not underestimate surprise finalists Golden Kick FC.
Speaking to the media after Kotoko’s narrow 1-0 semi-final victory over Berekum Chelsea in Tarkwa on Sunday, Zito stressed the importance of treating every opponent equally in cup competitions.
In the FA Cup, you can’t underrate any club so I don’t care because they’re Division One [Golden Kick]. I am going there for the cup so whoever comes there, I will deal with him and beat him for the cup, Zito said.
His comments come after Golden Kick FC continued their fairytale run by defeating Attram De Visser 3-1 in the other semi-final, earning a historic spot in the final against the Porcupine Warriors.
Zito, who recently took charge of Kotoko on an interim basis, praised the unpredictable nature of the FA Cup but made it clear his sole focus is to deliver silverware for the club.
We respect every opponent, but we’re Kotoko, and our aim is to lift this trophy. Golden Kick have done well, but we’re going to Tarkwa for one thing only: to win the cup, he added.
The final between Asante Kotoko and Golden Kick FC promises to be a thrilling encounter, pitting one of Ghana’s most successful clubs against a determined lower-tier side chasing a historic triumph.
