Asamoah Gyan, ambassador for the 2025 African Schools Football Championship, has urged young players participating in the tournament to prioritize their education alongside their football ambitions.

Speaking to journalists during the draw for the tournament, the Ghanaian football icon emphasized that academic pursuits should not be neglected, even for those with exceptional football talent.

Education is the key, Gyan said. They should focus on their studies as well. The football talent is there, and it will follow.

Gyan also took the opportunity to applaud CAF and its President, Dr. Patrice Motsepe, for launching and sustaining the African Schools Football Championship.

It’s a fantastic initiative. Kudos to CAF, and well done to the President himself, he noted. This is the third edition, and I’m proud that Ghana is hosting. I’m honored to be part of it.

The 2025 African Schools Championship kicks off on April 21 in Accra, Ghana, with the final set for April 26 at the University of Ghana Stadium.
