Asante Kotoko Secure Narrow Win Over FC Samartex to Extend Unbeaten Streak

Asante Kotoko continued their impressive unbeaten streak in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League with a narrow 1-0 victory over defending champions FC Samartex at the Len Clay Stadium.

The Porcupine Warriors, determined to maintain their momentum, secured all three points in what was a gritty and hard-fought contest.

The only goal of the game arrived in the 30th minute when striker Albert Amoah, positioned perfectly in the box, capitalized on a well-placed cross from Patrick Asiedu to find the back of the net from close range.

The goal proved decisive, as Kotoko managed to hold solidly on to their slim lead for the remainder of the match.

FC Samartex found it difficult to break down Kotoko’s resolute defense. The visitors struggled to create clear-cut chances and rarely threatened the Porcupine Warriors’ goal.

Kotoko’s defensive unit stood firm and effectively nullified Samartex’s attacking efforts.

The win keeps Asante Kotoko’s unbeaten run alive and takes them to 14 points from six games with a game in hand, placing them second on the league table behind Bibiani Gold Stars who have played a game more.

The victory is a significant boost Kotoko’s campaign as they continue to build on their strong start to the season. Kotoko’s ability to grind out results, even in tightly contested matches, highlights their resilience and growing title ambitions.

For FC Samartex, the defeat is a setback in their quest to defend their title. With just 10 points, they now sit fifth in the standings, struggling to find the consistency needed to challenge for the top spot.

The defending champions will need to regroup quickly if they hope to turn their fortunes around and mount a serious title defense in the coming weeks.
