CHAN 2024: Senegal Share Spoils with Congo in Second Group Game
The African Nations Championship (CHAN) is heating up in Group D as Senegal and Congo battled to a 1-1 draw in their second group game of the tournament.
Congo drew first blood in the 19th minute through Dechan Moussavou, putting them in control early on.
With defeat looming, Senegal stepped up their intensity, dominating possession and creating several half chances as they pushed for an equaliser.
However, the Congolese held firm and went into the break with their slender lead intact.
Congo looked set to claim all three points, but their resistance was finally broken in the 82nd minute when Layousse Samb struck to pull Senegal level.
Neither side could find a late winner, and both settled for a point, maintaining their unbeaten records in the competition taking them to 4 points and 2 points respectively.
In the final group fixtures, Congo will face Nigeria, while Senegal take on Sudan, with both matches decisive for a place in the knockout stages.
