Kurt Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has officially submitted his nomination to contest for a position on the CAF Executive Committee.
The elections, scheduled for March this year, position Okraku as a leading candidate for a seat on the committee. He will run unopposed as the representative for WAFU Zone B, marking a significant milestone in his administrative career.
In 2021, Okraku withdrew from the CAF Executive Committee elections to foster unity within WAFU Zone B. This decision cleared the path for Djibril Hamidou, President of the Niger Football Association, to secure the position as the sole candidate from the zone.
With Hamidou now reportedly pursuing a seat on the FIFA Council, Okraku has the opportunity to step into the CAF role. Sources within the continental football governing body indicate that Okraku enjoys strong backing from WAFU Zone B, making him a likely candidate to win the position.
This move further solidifies Okraku’s role as a prominent figure in the administration and governance of African football.
