The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced the renewal of its sponsorship agreement with KGL Group, signing a new two-year deal worth GH₵20 million to support the senior national team, the Black Stars.
The agreement marks a significant increase from the previous four-year contract worth GH₵14 million, which recently expired.
The new partnership, which will run through to 2027, underscores KGL’s continued commitment to the development of Ghanaian football. The signing ceremony took place at the KGL head office in Accra, where key stakeholders including the Executive Chairman of KGL Group, Mr. Alex Apau Dadey, the Minister for Sports, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, and GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku were present.
Mr. Dadey expressed his enthusiasm about the renewed partnership, noting the importance of collaboration between corporate institutions and national sports bodies.
I was glad that this came up for renewal,” he stated. “I spoke with the Minister and we decided that this would be the right time to sit down and discuss it together with the GFA President.
He emphasized the government’s role in facilitating the deal, crediting the Sports Minister for his persistence.
The Minister pushed us very hard to come on board, reminding us about our responsibility as corporate citizens,” Dadey said. “Kurt’s stewardship has shown us that the resources will be put to good use.
The deal marks a positive development for the Black Stars as they prepare for upcoming international competitions. GFA President Kurt Okraku, making his first public media appearance since his appointment as the Second Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), expressed heartfelt appreciation for the continued support.
We are grateful to the KGL Group for their trust and belief in the Black Stars and Ghana football,” Okraku stated. “This partnership strengthens our preparations and gives the team the needed backing as we aim for greater heights.
The Sports Ministry has pledged its full support to ensuring the successful implementation of the sponsorship, which is expected to bolster the national team’s performance and infrastructure.
