The Ghana Badminton Association (GBA) is set to commence its highly anticipated national tournament, which will also serve as a key selection event for identifying the country’s top badminton athletes.
The tournament is expected to showcase the highest level of competition, with players vying for a spot on the national team ahead of six major international tournaments scheduled for July 2025.
GBA President Evans Yeboah expressed excitement about the tournament’s unprecedented participation levels, emphasizing its importance in shaping Ghana’s badminton future.
We will be starting our national tournament, and it’s also a selection tournament to pick the best talent. We have had the most entries historically for this tournament, with over 91 people and a blessing of almost 284 match entries, he stated.
This year’s tournament has seen the highest number of entries in the history of the competition, reflecting the growing interest and development of badminton across the country. With players from various regions set to compete, the event promises to be highly competitive, offering a platform for both emerging and experienced athletes to showcase their skills.
The tournament will play a crucial role in Ghana’s badminton development strategy, providing a structured pathway for players to progress to the international stage. The selected athletes will represent Ghana in six prestigious global tournaments later this year, an opportunity to gain experience and compete against some of the best players worldwide.
