Sudan’s assistant coach, Ignatius Osei-Fosu, has attributed the team’s successful qualification to the leadership and experience of head coach James Kwesi Appiah.
Osei-Fosu, a former Dreams FC and Medeama coach, believes Appiah’s vast knowledge of the game gave Sudan a competitive edge. He highlighted Appiah’s past achievements, including Ghana’s dominance over Egypt in World Cup qualifiers.
I knew we would qualify ahead of Ghana and the other teams because we have James Kwasi Appiah, a man with vast experience. He told Asempa FM.
He also recalled Appiah’s impact at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, where Ghana was the only team that Germany, the eventual champions, failed to defeat. He noted that Ghana’s match against Germany was rated the best of the second round, while their game against the USA was the standout fixture of the first round.
With Kwesi Appiah, we had a 50% chance of qualifying. His personality and experience made a difference,” Ignatius Osei-Fosu added.
Under Appiah’s guidance, Sudan continues to make strides in international football, showcasing the impact of his leadership and expertise.
