Ghanaian forward Jerry Afriyie has finalized his move from second-division club Thoughts FC to Saudi Arabian side Al Qadsiya.

The 20-year-old has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until 2028. As part of the deal, valued at $850,000 excluding add-ons, Afriyie will join Spanish third-tier team CD Lugo on loan until the end of the season, The BAC Sports can confirm.

Over the past year, Afriyie has emerged as one of Ghana’s most promising talents. He played a pivotal role in helping the country secure a gold medal at the African Games, scoring the decisive goal in the final against Uganda.

The young striker also made waves at the 2024 WAFU B U-20 Championship in Togo, where he was named the tournament’s Best Player. Ghana finished as runners-up to Nigeria, with Afriyie earning the Golden Boot after scoring five goals in five matches.

In a historic milestone, Afriyie became the first player from Ghana’s third-tier league to receive a senior national team call-up in November 2024 during the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. He made an instant impression by scoring on his debut against Niger, despite the Black Stars falling 2-1.

Afriyie is expected to gain valuable international experience with CD Lugo before officially joining Al Qadsiya next season.
