Manchester City’s Woes Continue as They Blow Away 3-0 Lead Against Feyenoord

Manchester City’s struggles deepened on Tuesday night in the UEFA Champions League as they squandered a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 against Feyenoord Rotterdam at the Etihad  Stadium.

The result extended their winless streak to six matches, losing five times and drawing once across all competitions.

City, desperate to break a sequence of five straight losses, looked set for a commanding victory when Erling Haaland’s penalty in the first half gave them a deserved lead. The Norwegian striker was in prolific form, doubling his tally early in the second half after Ilkay Gündoğan had already extended the lead to 2-0 just five minutes after the break.

However, what appeared to be a resounding victory turned into a nightmare as Manchester City collapsed in the game’s closing stages.

Feyenoord’s Hadj Moussa began the comeback with a well-placed strike in the 75th minute. The Dutch side capitalized on City’s defensive lapses, with Santiago Giménez pulling Feyenoord within a goal in the 82nd minute.

The equalizer came just minutes before full-time, courtesy of David Hancko, completing an improbable comeback that left the City crowd in stunned silence.

Pep Guardiola, known for his tactical brilliance and team consistency, is enduring one of the most challenging periods of his managerial career.

This six-game winless streak—comprising five losses and a draw—is an unwanted first for Guardiola in nearly two decades of coaching.

Guardiola had never gone six games without a win until this season

“I don’t know if it is a mental thing,” said Guardiola, who became so frustrated with his side’s performance that he scratched his own face.

“The game was fine at 3-0, playing good, but then we concede a lot of goals because we were not stable. We gave them the first and then the other one, that is why it was difficult.

“The situation is what it is. We played a good game but at that level we can’t give them away.”

The defending Premier League champions now sit precariously at 15th position in the newly structured Champions League table with just eight points from five games.

A further slip down the standings is possible, depending on results from today’s fixtures.
