Samuel Anim Addo, a former Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has made a passionate appeal for legendary striker Asamoah Gyan to be appointed as the strikers’ coach of the Black Stars.
Speaking during an interview on SportyDrive on Sporty FM, Anim Addo expressed strong confidence that Gyan’s presence in the technical team would enhance the attacking prowess of the national side.
He believes the current crop of strikers, including players like Antoine Semenyo, idolize the former Black Stars captain and would greatly benefit from his experience and mentorship.
It is time for Asamoah Gyan to be Ghana’s striker’s coach, Anim Addo declared.
He urged the Ghana FA, the Ministry for Sports and Recreation, and key football stakeholders to consider the appointment seriously. He also highlighted the growing trend in modern football where teams have specialized coaches for strikers, noting that Ghana should not be left behind.
Asamoah Gyan, 39, remains Ghana’s all-time top scorer with 51 international goals. Although now retired, Gyan has never hidden his continued passion for the national team and his willingness to contribute in any capacity.
