Asante Kotoko head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum has urged calm and resilience following his side’s disappointing 2-0 defeat to Nations FC on Saturday in Round 28 of the Ghana Premier League.
The loss, Kotoko’s second in four games, saw them slip to 4th place on the league table with 47 points, four behind second-placed Nations FC. But despite their recent struggles, Ogum insists the title race is far from over.
The league is not over,.he said after the match. We keep working, we keep playing the games.
The Porcupine Warriors came into the match desperate for a turnaround after a string of poor results, including a 3-0 loss to Accra Lions and a 1-1 home draw with Bechem United. However, early goals from Nafiu Sulemana and Emmanuel Annor put Nations FC firmly in control, and Kotoko failed to mount a comeback.
Ogum’s side has now gone four games without a win, raising concerns among fans about the team’s ability to maintain a top-four finish, let alone challenge for the title.
With six games left to play, Ogum is focused on rallying his squad for a strong finish. The next big test? A trip to Accra to face arch-rivals Hearts of Oak in what is shaping up to be a season-defining encounter on Matchday 30.
There’s still a lot to play for, Ogum reiterated. We’ll keep pushing, one game at a time.
As the pressure mounts, the spotlight will remain firmly on the Kotoko boss and his team as they attempt to rediscover their early-season form and finish the campaign on a high.
