In an inspiring maiden appearance for Ghana at the African Games, Ghanaian swimmer, Harry Stacey has left an indelible mark, not only through his spirited performances but also through his passionate ambition to don the Ghanaian colors at the Olympic Games.

Despite facing stiff competition and ending his debut without a medal, the 20-year-old athlete,  managed to set personal bests in three individual finals, a feat that promises a bright future for the young athlete.

“It’s my first time representing Ghana, it’s a good experience. The games are very competitive, most athletes here are top 10 top 15 in the world.” He said.

Stacey’s ambitions do not stop at the African Games. His eyes are set on a bigger stage — the Olympic Games. The excellence of the facilities in Ghana, which he describes as “world class,” is a testament to the country’s capacity to nurture top-tier talent.

“I’ll love to represent Ghana at the Olympic Games. The facilities here are world class, I hope it’s maintained. With this kind of facility, we could be raising some amazing swimmers here.” He added.

Harry Stacey missed out on a medal in the final of the men’s 50m freestyle, finishing 5th with a time of 23.15 seconds.
