Ghana head coach Otto Addo has expressed deep satisfaction with his side’s performance in the 2025 Unity Cup, particularly praising the team’s victory over Trinidad and Tobago and their spirited showing against rivals Nigeria.

Speaking after the tournament, Addo commended the contributions of the new players, who were given the chance to prove themselves as part of his wider strategy to build a balanced, competitive squad ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

I am very satisfied; we brought in new players, again, who are fresh,” Addo said in a post-match interview. “I think we really did well in the first half, to press, to create chances… everything went well and I am very, very satisfied that everybody could show himself.

Ghana’s Unity Cup campaign saw them edge Trinidad and Tobago following an intense display, while their match against Nigeria showcased the growing depth in the squad. Addo acknowledged the difficulty in selecting the best players for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers in September, citing the high level of talent available to him.

The coach also emphasized the importance of opportunities like the Unity Cup in evaluating emerging talent, despite the challenges posed by tight international schedules. He revealed plans to continue monitoring players  including those returning from injury as Ghana prepares for crucial qualifiers against Chad and Mali.
