Jordan Ayew Opens His Leicester Goal Account Against Oxford United

Ghana forward Jordan Ayew scored his first goal of the season for Leicester City as the Foxes battled to a 2-2 draw against Oxford United in the English Championship.

The game started brightly for the hosts, with Will Lankshear putting Oxford ahead in the 9th minute. But Leicester responded almost immediately, as Ayew restored parity just three minutes later with a composed finish, his first strike in Foxes colours this campaign.

Leicester’s task became more complicated midway through the first half when they were reduced to ten men with about 20 minutes left before the break.

Oxford capitalised on their numerical advantage just before half-time, as Boubakary Soumaré inadvertently diverted a ball into his own net to make it 2-1.

Despite the setback, the Foxes showed resilience after the interval. Portugal international Ricardo Pereira levelled the game ten minutes into the second half, finishing off a superb assist from Ghanaian youngster Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.

Leicester’s ten men held firm to deny Oxford a late winner, securing a valuable point on the road. However, given their early promise, the result will likely feel like two points dropped rather than one gained for the Foxes.
