Semenyo on Target as Bournemouth Share Spoils with Leeds
Ghanaian winger Antoine Semenyo continued his fine run of form for AFC Bournemouth, finding the net in their 2-2 draw against Leeds United in the English Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The 25-year-old gave the Cherries the perfect start midway through the first half, unleashing a clever low free kick that sneaked under the Leeds wall and beat goalkeeper Karl Darlow, who could do little to keep the ball from nestling into the net.
The goal marked Semenyo’s fourth of the season in just six matches, underlining his growing importance for Bournemouth.
Despite taking the lead, Andoni Iraola’s men were pegged back before the break. Leeds defender Joe Rodon rose highest to nod in the equalizer, before Matt Longstaff’s strike shortly after half-time completed the turnaround for the home side.
Bournemouth refused to fold and kept pressing for a way back into the contest. Their persistence paid off in the dying stages when substitute Kroupi Jr slotted home the leveler, sparking wild celebrations among the traveling supporters.
For Semenyo, it was another performance full of industry and direct running, stretching the Leeds defense time and again. His goal contribution now stands at six for the campaign—four goals and two assists—making him one of Bournemouth’s standout performers in the early weeks of the season.
With his confidence high and his influence growing, the Ghanaian international looks set for a breakout year in the Premier League, much to the delight of both Bournemouth fans and the Black Stars faithful back home.
