The Black Princesses of Ghana are through to the knockout stages of the women’s football event at the ongoing 13th African Games, following two wins in the group stage.

The opening match of the tournament saw the Black Princesses struggle but ultimately achieve a slim victory against Ethiopia.

At the Cape Coast Stadium on March 12, the Black Princesses took on the Tanzanian U20 Women’s  team in their second Group A fixture.

Despite Ghana falling behind after Tanzania’s Hasnath Ubamba scored in the 23rd minute, coach Yussif Basigi’s squad remained resilient.

Just before halftime, Tracey Twum’s brilliant strike brought the score level during the added minutes of the first half.

The second half’s intense game saw Mukarama Abdulai netting a goal at the 64-minute mark, putting the Black Princesses ahead.

As the Black Princesses protected their lead and dominated the game, they secured a 2-1 victory after the full-time whistle.

This win ensures the Ghana U20 women’s team’s spot in the next round of the 13th African Games football event.

Looking ahead, the Princesses will prepare for their final Group A game against Uganda.
