The Black Stars of Ghana drew 2-2 with Uganda today in an international friendly that came off in Marrakech, Morocco.
After Friday’s defeat against Nigeria, the Stars were in high hopes of ending their seven-game winless run against the Cranes of Uganda but failed the test once again.
Ghana started the game brightly notching the opener as early as the 7th minute through defender Jerome Opoku.
Otto Addo’s men grew in confidence and threatened the Ugandan goal on several occasions.
However, Asante Kotoko striker, Steve Mukwala, pulled the cranes level after 23 minutes of action via the penalty spot.
Jordan Ayew restored Ghana’s lead five minutes later from a penalty awarded by the referee.
Ghana led 2-1 at the break and were just in pole position to win their first game in 2024.
The second half began with the Cranes in high spirits, pushing hard for the equalizer but Jojo Wollacott was in good form, thwarting their efforts.
The equalizer, however, arrived in the 83rd minute through Kampala City forward Muhammed Shaban to make the score 2-2.
Ghana pushed for a last minute winner but their efforts were in vain before referee Karboubi brought proceedings to and end.
This draw leaves Ghana with only a single win in their ten games. The only win came against Madagascar in the world cup qualifiers in November, 2023 in Kumasi.
The friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda were preparatory games for the World Cup qualifiers against Mail and Central African Republic in June, the Stars however, won none.
