Asante Kotoko has released a press statement to address the recent speculation surrounding head coach Prosper Ogum’s future at the club.

The statement comes after a string of poor results in the Ghana Premier League sparked calls from some fans for Ogum’s dismissal.

The Interim Management Committee (IMC) of Asante Kotoko has unequivocally confirmed that Coach Ogum remains in his position.

They acknowledged the concerns raised by the cherished supporters regarding the team’s recent form but emphasized their commitment to ensuring that there is a quick turnaround in our current fortunes.

The statement further clarifies that the club leadership has held an “emergency meeting with the coaching staff” to address the situation. This signifies a preference to work collaboratively with Coach Ogum to find solutions rather than resorting to a change in leadership.

Coach Ogum’s tenure at Kotoko has been a mixed bag. He guided the team to the Ghana Premier League title in the 2021/22 season but has faced criticism for the team’s underwhelming performances in the current campaign.

A recent run of five defeats in six matches has seen Kotoko plummet down the league table, raising questions about Ogum’s competency at the helm.

While some fans remain disgruntled, the official stance from the club management suggests a vote of confidence in Coach Ogum, at least for the immediate future.

The coming weeks will be crucial for both Ogum and the team. They will need to turn things around quickly to regain the support of the fans and salvage their chances of success in the remaining matches of the season.
