A dramatic comeback saw France secure their place in the final of the men’s football tournament at the Paris Olympics.

The hosts trailed Egypt 1-0 after Mahmoud Saber’s 62nd-minute goal, but a brace from Jean-Philippe Mateta in the 83rd and 100th minutes turned the game on its head.

Michael Olise sealed the victory in the 110th minute, ensuring a 3-1 triumph for France.

France will now face Spain in the final on Friday, with both nations vying to become the first European side to win Olympic gold in 32 years.

Egypt, despite the heartbreaking defeat, will contest the bronze medal match against Morocco in a North African derby.
