10-Man Dreams FC Hold Defending Champions Samartex to a Goalless Draw
Dreams FC displayed a resilient performance to hold defending Ghana Premier League champions, FC Samartex to a 0-0 draw at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Despite being reduced to 10 men in the 70th minute, the home side managed to secure a point in their opening game of the season.
The match was action-packed, with both teams creating several chances throughout the 90 minutes. However, neither side was able to capitalize on their opportunities, leaving the game goalless.
Dreams FC faced an uphill battle after 19-year-old Collins Boah was sent off for a second yellow card in the 70th minute. This left the team with 10 men for the final 20 minutes of regulation time, handing Samartex a numerical advantage.
However, the Timber Giants were unable to make the most of their extra player, as they failed to break down the resilient Dreams FC defense.
A standout performance from Dreams FC goalkeeper Gidios Aseako was key to the result. Aseako made seven crucial saves, denying Samartex on multiple occasions and keeping his side in the game. His heroics between the posts frustrated the champions, who struggled to find a way past the in-form goalkeeper.
Dreams FC, despite being a man down, defended resolutely and thwarted all of Samartex’s attacks, earning a valuable point on the opening day of the league.
The result leaves both teams looking ahead to their next fixtures, with Dreams FC set to face Basake Holystars, while Samartex will host Bibiani Gold Stars in their next match.
