Black Stars coach, Otto Addo has admitted that the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Sudan will be a tough one.

The 45-year-old coach made these comments after Ghana’s 1-1 draw with Niger on Monday at Stade Municipal de Berkane, in Morocco,

This result means the Black Stars remain winless, having lost 1-0 to Angola in Kumasi, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, last Thursday.

Ghana will face former head coach, Kwesi Appiah’s Sudan in a crucial doubleheader in October.

Reflecting on the Niger game, Addo said, “It’s going to be tough again. From the beginning, I knew that small margins and details could be decisive. This is another crucial match for us, and we must win. There is no option but to win if we want to improve later. We are certainly under pressure and must perform better.”

Addo also highlighted the need to learn from their mistakes in the first two games as they continue their campaign. “We are conceding too easily. I am disappointed because we didn’t learn from the first game. This time it was a set piece, and despite being all back, we needed to defend better. We must get better at using our chances and defending in detail. The goals we conceded were cheap, and we have to grow from this,” Addo explained.

Currently, the Black Stars are 3rd on the table with just one point from two games.
