Asante Kotoko to Use Len Clay as Temporary Home Ground
Kumasi Asante Kotoko, one of Ghana’s football powerhouses, has confirmed that they will be temporarily playing their home matches at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium for the 2024/25 football season.
This move comes after the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, their traditional home ground, was closed by the National Sports Authority (NSA) for renovation.
The club made the announcement via their social media platforms, informing fans and stakeholders of the temporary relocation. The decision, though necessitated by circumstances beyond their control, underscores the club’s adaptability and commitment to maintaining a strong presence in the ongoing season.
As the renovations at Baba Yara Sports Stadium are expected to take some time, the Porcupine Warriors will call the Len Clay Sports Stadium home until further notice.
Adapting to New Grounds
The Len Clay Sports Stadium, located in Obuasi, is no stranger to hosting top-tier football matches, having been home to Ashanti Gold SC for many years.
However, Asante Kotoko’s switch to the venue marks a significant development in the ongoing Ghana Premier League season. Although the Porcupine Warriors are accustomed to the vibrancy and massive support they usually enjoy at the Baba Yara Stadium, their fan base is expected to travel in numbers to support the team in Obuasi.
For Kotoko, the change in venue does not dampen their ambitions. The team is focused on building on their strong start to the season, having secured a crucial away victory against Karela United. This win has set a positive tone, and the club is determined to sustain the momentum despite the venue change.
Kotoko’s first match at their new temporary home will take place on Sunday, September 22, when they face Young Apostles.
Fans will be eager to see how the team adapts to the new environment and if they can continue their winning start to the current season. With a blend of experienced players and rising talents, Kotoko’s squad has the potential to challenge for the league title this season.
Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum is confident that his team will maintain their focus, noting that the switch in venue is just another challenge to overcome. “The players are prepared and ready to perform, regardless of where we play,” he remarked in a recent interview.
Looking Ahead
Asante Kotoko’s relocation to Obuasi is a temporary setback in terms of playing at their beloved Baba Yara Sports Stadium, but it is far from a disruption to their season’s plans. The club remains a top contender in the Ghana Premier League, and the fans are hopeful that the switch in home grounds will not affect their performance.
While they wait for the completion of the renovations at Baba Yara, the Porcupine Warriors are determined to keep their title ambitions alive. Asante Kotoko’s ability to stay resilient and adaptable will be key in ensuring that they continue to perform at the highest level, both at the Len Clay Sports Stadium and beyond.
The match against Young Apostles promises to be an exciting affair, as the team adjusts to its temporary home ground. Fans will no doubt be rallying behind the team as they aim for a successful campaign, one game at a time.
I believe Kumasi Asante Kotoko has the capacity and the right men to do the business come this weekend at the Len Clay Sports Stadium 🏟. With a potent manager, one who has been tried and tested, I believe they stand a better chance of extending their winning streak against a Young Apostles team who haven’t had particularly a good start to the season. They lost away to Nsoatreman and drew against Nations FC at home. A match they really played some positive football and dominated from start to finish. The only thing lacking for them was putting the ball at the back of the net. Something I think Kotoko will take advantage of. I wish both teams all the best of luck 🙏 👍 ❤ . Even though I’m rooting for my darling club Asante Kotoko to carry the day, I think the team from Wenchi can’t be underestimated. I watched them against Nations FC and they proved like a side who could cause problems for any team on any day.
Good to know that 😃
