Former Dreams FC stars John Antwi and Abdul Aziz Issah have been shortlisted for the CAF Inter-Club Player of the Year award after their impressive performances in last season’s CAF Confederations Cup.
The duo was crucial in helping the Dreams to reach the semifinals, where they narrowly lost to Zamalek SC, the ultimate champions.
John Antwi, an experienced addition to the team, achieved his mission by scoring six goals and providing an assist across 14 matches during their first African campaign.
Meanwhile, young talent Abdul Aziz Issah also had a stellar season, contributing to six goals in 12 games, which led to a loan move to FC Barcelona, with an option for a permanent transfer last summer.
These outstanding performances are key reasons for their award nominations, where they will compete against top players like Sayed Zizou, Hussein El Shahat, Ronwen Williams, and Burkinabe defender Issoufou Dayo.
The 2023 CAF Awards, celebrating achievements from September 2023 to June 2024, will honor both men’s and women’s African Players of the Year. The African Football Confederation (CAF) announced today that the ceremony will occur in Marrakech, Morocco, on December 16.
