Black Galaxies Head to Togo for Friendly Ahead of CHAN Qualifiers Against Nigeria
The Black Galaxies of Ghana departed for Lome, Togo for an international friendly match as part of their preparations for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers against Nigeria later this month.
Mas Ud Didi Dramani’s squad left their training base at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence (GSCE) to face Togo at the Stade de Kegue on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.
This friendly is a key component of the team’s buildup to the crucial qualifiers, with Ghana aiming to fine-tune their strategy and build cohesion ahead of their showdown with archrivals Nigeria.
The two-legged qualifier begins on Sunday, December 22, with the first leg to be held in Ghana, while the return leg will take place in Nigeria on Saturday, December 28, 2024.
The stakes are high, as the winner will earn a place in the CHAN 2024 tournament, set to be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
Ghana has fond memories of their last CHAN qualification encounter with Nigeria, having emerged victorious after a dramatic penalty shootout following a 2-2 aggregate scoreline.
The Black Galaxies have been engaged in several low-profile friendly matches to sharpen their skills and prepare for the task ahead.
The clash against Togo is expected to provide the team with a more competitive test before they face Nigeria in what promises to be a thrilling battle for CHAN qualification.
