Super Clash: Kotoko to Host Hearts at Baba Yara Stadium
The biggest fixture in Ghanaian football returns on Sunday, December 15, as Asante Kotoko welcomes archrivals Hearts of Oak to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for the highly anticipated Super Clash in the Ghana Premier League.
This Matchday 13 encounter has taken center stage, with all other matches rescheduled to Saturday, December 14, to make way for the electrifying showdown between these two historic clubs.
Kotoko enters the clash buoyed by their recent 2-0 win over Aduana Stars, a victory that ended a five-game winless streak. Head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum believes the win has significantly boosted the confidence of his players.
“This win [against Aduana Stars] has brought some self-belief into the players,” Ogum said. “They now believe it is doable. Heading into the game against Hearts of Oak, we are going in with a lot of confidence. It’s a game we must approach with focus and determination, and I believe we have what it takes to deliver.”
Hearts of Oak, meanwhile, have struggled for consistency this season but are determined to make a statement in Kumasi. Head coach Abubakar Ouattara emphasized his team’s readiness for the challenge.
“Kotoko is a strong team, and we respect them, but we are not afraid of them,” Ouattara said. “We have prepared well, and my players are ready to fight for all three points. The Super Clash is always special, and we know how much it means to our fans. We will give our best.”
Both teams are under pressure to deliver a result that could define their respective seasons. Hearts of Oak currently sits in 6th place, while Asante Kotoko languish in 7th.
A win for either side could reignite their title hopes and provide a morale boost heading into the second half of the campaign.
With bragging rights and three vital points at stake, fans can expect a thrilling encounter at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. The Super Clash remains the pinnacle of Ghanaian football, and Sunday’s game promises to live up to its legendary status.
