Vision FC End Winless Streak with Dramatic Victory Over Medeama SC
Vision FC finally ended their eight-game winless streak in the Ghana Premier League with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Medeama SC at the Nii Adjei Okraku II Sports Complex in Tema.
The win, Vision’s first in eight matches, came after a slump that saw them draw three and lose four of their previous fixtures. The determined “Eewo Lads” were rejuvenated as they hosted league heavyweights Medeama SC in a match filled with drama, goals, and controversy.
Vision started brightly, with Joshua Rhule opening the scoring in the 4th minute to give the home side an early lead before Frank Duku doubled their advantage on the stroke of halftime, capitalizing on a defensive lapse to leave the visitors trailing 2-0 at the break.
The second half brought more drama. Medeama’s Emmanuel Codjoe was shown a straight red card in the 55th minute for a reckless tackle, reducing the visitors to 10 men and seemingly giving Vision an opportunity to extend their lead.
That chance came later on in the game through a penalty, but Duku squandered the opportunity, leaving the scoreline unchanged.
Moments later, Vision’s Edmund Asante was also sent off, leveling the playing field at 10 men each. Medeama took full advantage of the reprieve, mounting a spirited comeback with two quick goals in the space of 15 minutes to equalize.
With the game heading toward a draw, Vision made one final push. Substitute Emmanuel Kyei Baffour became the hero of the day, scoring a dramatic late winner to secure Vision’s third league victory of the season.
The result lifts Vision FC to 12th on the league table with 14 points, while Medeama SC remains in 5th place with 21 points. However, Medeama’s position could change depending on the outcome of the much-anticipated Super Clash between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak on Sunday, December 15.
Vision FC’s head coach praised his team’s resilience and determination after the match, expressing hope that the victory would serve as a turning point for their season.
“This win means a lot to us. It wasn’t an easy game, especially against a team like Medeama, but the boys showed character. We’ve had some tough results, but today they proved they can rise to the occasion,” he stated.
