Former General Manager of Nsoatreman FC, Eric Alagidede, has spoken in defense of club owner Ignatius Baffour Awuah, who has been named as a suspect in the tragic death of Kotoko fan Nana Yaw ‘Pooley’, during a Ghana Premier League matchday 19 clash in Nsoatre.

Speaking to Sporty FM, Alagidede dismissed claims that Baffour Awuah could have incited violence, describing him as a man of peace and a dedicated supporter of Ghanaian football.

Ignatius Baffour Awuah is not the kind of man to incite supporters to attack someone,” he stated. “He is a known Kotoko fan and used to contribute to the club to help buy players. He is the last person who would want to harm Kotoko.

Baffour Awuah has, however, been charged with abetment to commit a crime, to wit murder, after appearing before the Sunyani District Court, presided over by Eric Daning.

The court has granted him bail set at GH₵500,000 with three sureties. As part of his bail conditions, he is required to report to the police station, crime officer, or investigator daily for the first 14 days. Additionally, he must surrender his passport to the court registry until further notice.

Baffour Awuah, will reappear before court on February 17, 2025.
