The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has disconnected power to the Baba Yara Stadium due to an outstanding debt of GH¢130,000.

Despite multiple reminders, the amount remains unpaid, prompting ECG to take action. Power will only be restored once the full debt is settled.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Sports Authority (NSA) have not yet commented on the situation. In November 2024, the NSA announced the completion of renovation works at the stadium.

However, the previous government faced criticism when the Confederation of African Football (CAF) barred the venue from hosting the Black Stars’ AFCON qualifiers.
