Sudan’s assistant coach, Ignatius Osei-Fosu, has emphasized that while a coach plays a crucial role in shaping a team’s style of play, the final outcome of a match is not solely dependent on him.

Speaking on Asempa FM, Osei-Fosu highlighted the importance of a well-balanced approach in both defense and attack to increase a team’s chances of success.

The performance of the players is dependent on the coach, but the result of a match is not. If a team executes its game plan effectively in both defense and attack, winning becomes more likely. He explained.

Osei-Fosu has been instrumental alongside head coach Kwesi Appiah in leading Sudan to significant achievements, including securing qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Their tactical guidance helped Sudan outperform teams like Ghana and Niger in their group.

Beyond AFCON qualification, Sudan is also making strides toward securing a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The team currently leads their World Cup qualifying group with 10 points, positioning themselves as strong contenders for a place in the global tournament.

Under the leadership of Appiah and Osei-Fosu, Sudan’s national team continues to make impressive progress on the international stage.
