The future of African football will receive an extraordinary boost at the CAF African Schools Football Championship in Ghana, where legendary figures like Abedi Pele, Asamoah Gyan, and Amanda Dlamini will mentor the continent’s brightest young talents.

The third edition of Africa’s premier schools football tournament will take place in Accra from 23–26 April 2025. Defending champions, six zonal qualifiers, and host nation Ghana will compete for the title of African champions.

In line with its commitment to youth football development, CAF has enlisted seven African football icons to support and guide the Under-15 participants. These legends include Clementine Toure (Côte d’Ivoire), Robert Kidiaba (DR Congo), Abedi Pele, Asamoah Gyan, Adjoa Bayor (all from Ghana), Amanda Dlamini (South Africa), and Kareem Haggui (Tunisia).

Throughout the tournament, the legends will lead training clinics, participate in Capacity Building Workshops, oversee training sessions, and provide encouragement to the young players both before and after matches.

Gyan, Dlamini, and Kidiaba, who have previously contributed to the 2022 and 2024 editions, will return to continue their mentorship roles.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Ghanaian star Asamoah Gyan praised CAF’s commitment to nurturing African football talent.

The CAF African Schools Football Championship is one of the key initiatives driving the growth of African football. It offers young players not only a platform to showcase their skills internationally but also an opportunity to develop through education, Gyan said.

All seven legends will be present at the Official Draw ceremony on Monday, 21 April in Accra, where teams in both the boys’ and girls’ U-15 categories will be grouped for the tournament.
