Ghana U20 head coach Desmond Ofei has admitted his side had to dig deep to overcome a determined Senegal outfit in their 2025 CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group C encounter.
The Black Satellites battled the Young Teranga Lions on Monday night in a tense contest at the Suez Stadium. A first-half goal from Emmanuel Mensah proved decisive, as Ghana secured a crucial 1-0 victory to boost their qualification hopes.
Speaking after the match, Coach Ofei acknowledged the difficulty of the game but credited his team’s tactical execution for seeing them through.
It was a very difficult game, no doubt about that. But tactically, I believe we got it right, Ofei said.
The win places Ghana in a strong position ahead of their final Group C fixture against the Central African Republic, where a positive result would secure their spot in the knockout rounds of the competition.
