Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has paid a morale-boosting visit to Ghanaian defender Abdul Mumin in Spain, as the player continues his recovery from a thigh injury sustained earlier this year.

Mumin, 26, has been sidelined since March 31 after limping off during Rayo Vallecano’s 1-1 draw with Sevilla in La Liga. He has yet to feature for the Spanish side since sustaining the injury.

As the Black Stars prepare to regroup in London for a four-nation international friendly series later this month, the technical team is closely monitoring Mumin’s rehabilitation. Ghana is scheduled to face Trinidad & Tobago, Nigeria, and Jamaica in a mini-tournament intended as preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Black Stars will play on 28th May and 30th May 2025 in the UK-based tournament.

Mumin, who has earned nine caps for the senior national team, expressed his gratitude for Coach Addo’s visit and briefed the Ghana gaffer on his recovery progress. The visit reflects the team’s commitment to supporting injured players and maintaining team cohesion ahead of major competitions.

The Rayo Vallecano defender has already missed key World Cup qualifying fixtures against Chad and Madagascar and is expected to sit out the upcoming UK friendlies as well.

The tournament will serve as vital preparation for Ghana’s next round of 2026 World Cup qualifiers scheduled for September.
