Abdul Fatawu Out for the Rest of the Season after Sustaining ACL Injury

Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a serious knee injury while on international duty with Ghana.

Leicester City manager Steve Cooper confirmed the news, describing the injury as a significant blow for both the player and the team.

The 20-year-old sustained the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury during Ghana’s 1-1 draw with Angola in the recent international break. The injury will sideline Fatawu for the remainder of the campaign, leaving Leicester without one of their most exciting young talents.

“It’s not good, it’s a serious injury,” said Cooper during a press conference ahead of Leicester’s Premier League clash against Chelsea.

“He’s had an ACL injury that is going to rule him out for the rest of the season. It’s a real blow, first and foremost for him, being a young player and having an injury as serious as what an ACL is,” the Leicester City manager added.

Fatawu has been a key figure for Leicester City since helping the Foxes secure promotion to the Premier League last season. This season, he has made 11 league appearances, showcasing his immense potential with his pace, skill, and game-changing abilities.

One of his standout moments came in October when he inspired Leicester to a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory against Southampton. After coming off the bench with his side trailing 2-0, Fatawu’s impact changed the game, earning him praise from pundits.

Former Premier League goalkeeper Shay Given lauded the winger, saying, “This guy is absolutely lightning… he’s a brilliant talent.”

Fatawu’s recent performances had earned him a starting role in Leicester’s last three matches, solidifying his status as a rising star.
