Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has announced that the Accra Sports Stadium will be closed for refurbishment following Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualifier against Chad.

The stadium, a key venue for the Black Stars, will host the crucial match on Friday, after which Adams insists major renovations are necessary to improve its overall condition.

After this game, we must close the Accra Sports Stadium for refurbishment and bring it up to standard. The stadium has been left in a poor state. We have worked on the pitch, and the coach is satisfied with it. Additionally, we have fixed the sanitary facilities, dressing rooms, and air-conditioning. He stated on TV3 Sports Station.

The Black Stars commenced their training camp in Accra on Monday, March 17, in preparation for the match against Chad on March 21. Following this fixture, they will head to Morocco to face Madagascar on March 24 in another Group I World Cup qualifier.

Nine players participated in the Black Stars’ first training session on Monday as they geared up for the crucial encounter against Chad.
