Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad will take place at the Accra Sports Stadium, with the match scheduled between March 17 and 25, 2025.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) opted not to submit another venue for inspection by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The Accra Sports Stadium last hosted Ghana’s 2-1 defeat to Niger in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in November 2024.

Following that match, the stadium was closed for pitch maintenance by Green Grass Technology, under the supervision of the National Sports Authority (NSA). Three months later, the pitch has seen significant improvements. While CAF inspectors have not physically visited the facility, they have maintained communication with the GFA and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation.

After years of playing second choice to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, the Accra Sports Stadium is now Ghana’s primary home venue after CAF revoked Kumasi’s approval. In September 2024, CAF withdrew its endorsement of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium due to “technical infractions, including an unsuitable playing field,” citing repeated warnings for non-compliance.

With the Cape Coast Stadium also ruled out since March 2022, the Accra Sports Stadium remains the only CAF- and FIFA-approved venue for Category A matches, making it the confirmed location for Ghana’s upcoming fixture.
