President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has reiterated his administration’s dedication to good governance, emphasizing transparency and accountability for the benefit of the nation.

Delivering his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Thursday, February 27, 2025, before Parliament, Mahama underscored the government’s efforts to ensure public access to information. He also urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to disclose the budget for the Black Stars.

Next month, the senior national team, the Black Stars, now a pale shadow of their former glory, will be in action, Mahama noted.

I have instructed the Minister for Sports and Recreation to hold the GFA accountable, particularly regarding the team’s budget. There will be no secrecy in how much the government spends on the national team. The budget presented by the FA and other associations must be made public, as it is taxpayers’ money, he emphasized.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars are set to compete in their Matchday five and six fixtures next month. Ghana will host Chad on March 17 before traveling to face Madagascar on March 24.
