Argentine Striker Julian Alvarez Aims to Reach Full Potential
Manchester City’s Argentine forward, Julian Alvarez completed a shock move to La Liga giants Atletico Madrid in a deal worth a reported €85 million last week and the he 23-year-old has revealed why he chose to leave the Etihad Stadium; aiming to reach his full potential.
In an interview with Atletico Madrid, Alvarez expressed his excitement about joining the club and his belief that it will provide the ideal environment for him to develop as a player. “I felt like I needed a change in my professional career, a new challenge, and I think this is the club where I can get the tools and space to become the best version of myself as a footballer,” he stated.
The young Argentine, who joined City from River Plate in a €14m deal in 2022, enjoyed a successful two-year spell in Manchester, winning multiple trophies, including the Premier League, Champions League, and domestic cups.
However, the allure of a fresh start and the opportunity to take on a more prominent role elsewhere evidently proved too tempting to resist.
Alvarez has already expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome he has received from the Atletico Madrid fanbase, stating, “The support and affection of the fans from the very beginning, even before the deal became official, make me really happy.”
The transfer represents a significant investment for Atletico Madrid, who will be hoping that Alvarez can replicate his goal-scoring form and help the club challenge for domestic and European honors.
