Arsenal Secure First Champions League Win Against PSG

Arsenal claimed their first win in the new Champions League format, defeating Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 at Emirates Stadium.

Mikel Arteta’s side took charge early, scoring two first-half goals. Kai Havertz opened the scoring after 20 minutes, heading in Leandro Trossard’s cross.

Bukayo Saka added a second with a free-kick that drifted past PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

PSG had chances, with Nuno Mendes and Joao Neves both hitting the woodwork.

Despite PSG’s pressure in the second half, Arsenal’s first-half dominance laid the foundation for victory.

Havertz’s bravery in the air and Saka’s set-piece magic helped Arsenal secure the lead.

Arsenal struggled to retain possession after the break but managed to keep PSG at bay.

Mikel Merino made his Arsenal debut after signing from Real Sociedad, replacing Ghanaian midfielder, Thomas Partey with 26th minutes left to play.

The match also saw Jurrien Timber leave injured at half-time, adding concern for Arteta.

This win showcased Arsenal’s growing maturity under Arteta. Despite some second-half struggles, Arsenal comfortably sealed the victory.
