Asante Kotoko booked their place in the semi-finals of the MTN FA Cup with a dramatic 2-1 victory over True Democracy at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.
A stoppage-time winner from Kwame Opoku sealed the triumph for the Porcupine Warriors, setting up a semi-final clash with Berekum Chelsea.
The match began with Kotoko asserting their dominance early on, as Saaka Dauda broke the deadlock in the 12th minute, giving the home side a 1-0 lead. True Democracy, however, remained resilient and found the equalizer in the 62nd minute through Isaac Botchway, setting up a tense finish to the game.
With the contest seemingly headed for extra time, Kwame Opoku emerged as the hero for Kotoko, netting the decisive goal in the 94th minute to send the home crowd into jubilation. His late strike ensured Kotoko’s progression into the final four of the prestigious competition.
In the semi-finals, Kotoko will face Berekum Chelsea in a highly anticipated showdown, while Attram De Vesser will battle Golden Kicks for a place in the grand finale.
