The Head Coach of Ghana National team, Otto Addo, has announced his 23-man squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar, with two notable debutants making the list.

Hearts of Oak’s experienced goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare, and Genk’s rising star, Christopher Bonsu Baah, have earned their first-ever call-ups to the Black Stars.

The 32-year-old shot-stopper, who joined Hearts of Oak from Accra Great Olympics, has been a standout performer in the Ghana Premier League this season.

His commanding presence between the posts has contributed significantly to the Phobians’ impressive run, making them serious title contenders. With 12 clean sheets in the Ghana Premier League this season. Asare has been one of the best goalkeepers in the league, proving his consistency and experience.

On the European front, Christopher Bonsu Baah has been making waves in Belgium’s top flight.

However, the 20-year-old Genk forward has been a revelation this season, scoring three goals and providing three assists in 27 league appearances. His dynamic play has placed him among the top-performing U20 players in the Belgian Pro League for goal contributions. Notably, he has also won the most fouls in the league, demonstrating his ability to draw defensive pressure and create attacking opportunities.

Baah, who joined Genk from Norwegian side Sarpsborg 08 in 2023, has quickly adapted to the high level of competition, making him a valuable addition to Ghana’s attacking options.

As Ghana prepares for crucial matches against Chad and Madagascar during the March international break, the inclusion of Asare and Baah brings a mix of experience and youthful energy to the squad. Both players will be eager to impress and solidify their places in the national team setup as the Black Stars aim to secure their spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
