Ghana’s Black Queens narrowly lost 1-0 to Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses in an international friendly in Casablanca on Friday.

The Queens started strong, creating early opportunities, but Moroccan goalkeeper Fatima Ezzahra denied them. Doris Boaduwaa’s second-minute shot missed the target, while Sherifa Sumaila’s cross was safely gathered by the keeper.

Despite Ghana’s determined performance, Morocco broke the deadlock in stoppage time when Saoud Imane capitalized on a defensive error to score the match-winner.

The game provided a valuable test for Coach Kim Lars Björkegren as he fine-tunes his squad for the TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in July.

Ghana will wrap up their nine-day training tour in Morocco with a match against Raja Athletic on Monday, February 24, 2025.
