Black Starlets Step Up Preparations With Ahead of Togo Clash
The Black Starlets are intensifying preparations for their opening game at the WAFU Zone B U17 Championship, with training sessions lined up for Thursday and Friday before they face Togo on Saturday, September 20, at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro.
The team, led by head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, touched down in Ivory Coast on Tuesday and wasted no time getting into gear, holding their first training session on Wednesday at the Southern Campus of the Felix Houphouët-Boigny National Polytechnic Institute.
The session, which lasted an hour and a half, saw all players participate fully, with no injury concerns reported.
With two more intensive sessions scheduled, the Starlets are expected to sharpen tactics and boost match fitness ahead of the highly anticipated Group A opener against Togo.
The WAFU Zone B U17 Championship doubles as a qualifier for the 2025 U17 Africa Cup of Nations, and Ghana — a nation with a proud youth football tradition — will be aiming to make a strong start to their campaign and book a place at the continental showpiece.
