CAF has appointed a Burundian officiating team to handle Bibiani Gold Stars FC’s crucial CAF Champions League preliminary-round first-leg match against Algerian side JS Kabylie, scheduled for Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Georges Gatogato will serve as the centre referee, supported by compatriots Emery Niyongabo (Assistant Referee I) and Olivier Nibogora (Assistant Referee II). The fourth official role has been assigned to Bertrand Manirakiza, also from Burundi. Overseeing the match as Match Commissioner will be Alhaji Babagana Kalli Kalli from Nigeria.
The appointment of a fully international refereeing crew underscores CAF’s commitment to fair play and professionalism in Africa’s premier club competition.
With both teams expected to push hard in this high-stakes first-leg clash, the referees’ experience will be vital in ensuring the match is conducted smoothly and decisions are managed effectively.
For Gold Stars, this is more than a home game—it’s a chance to assert themselves on the continental stage, with the officiating team playing a key role in maintaining the integrity and flow of the match.
