Ghana U20 head coach Desmond Ofei has expressed his pride in his players following their determined 1-0 victory over the Central African Republic in the final Group C match of the 2025 U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.
The Black Satellites sealed top spot in their group after a late goal from Joseph Opoku in the 84th minute secured all three points at the Suez Canal Stadium. The win ensured Ghana advanced to the quarterfinals as group leaders, ahead of defending champions Senegal.
Speaking after the match, Coach Ofei was full of admiration for his team’s performance under pressure.
“The boys played football today and I’m really proud of them,” Desmond Ofei told the press.
Ofei credited his squad for sticking to the game plan and showing maturity in key moments of the contest, especially against a Central African Republic side that proved difficult to break down.
The victory capped a strong group stage campaign for the Black Satellites, who finished unbeaten, with two wins and a draw.
Ghana now moves into the knockout phase, aiming to continue their impressive run and challenge for the coveted U20 AFCON title.
