Djiku and Paintsil Ruled Out of Chad Clash, Set to Return for Mali Game
The Black Stars will be without key players Alexander Djiku and Joseph Paintsil for Thursday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad in N’Djamena.
Both players were named in Ghana’s squad for the double-header but could not make it to camp before the team’s departure to Chad.
Paintsil only arrived in Accra on Wednesday morning after missing a connecting flight from New York due to a delayed departure from Los Angeles.
Djiku, meanwhile, is in Moscow finalizing a contract and is expected in Accra on Friday.
As a result, Otto Addo will work with 22 players for the Chad encounter.
However, both Djiku and Paintsil are expected to be available for Ghana’s next match against Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 8, 2025.
