Former Ghana international Sam Johnson has urged the Black Stars players to remain fully committed as they prepare for their upcoming World Cup qualifying matches against Chad and Madagascar.

After missing out on a spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the senior national team will reconvene later this month for their Matchday five and six fixtures in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Ahead of these crucial games, Johnson emphasized the importance of dedication, urging players to be ready for battle while also being mindful of injury risks.

“Don’t come and play with our hearts,” he told Joy Sports. “If you’re ready to play, then play. But if you’re concerned about getting injured or feel Ghana won’t provide enough support, then stay out and focus on your big money. No one will fight you for that.”

He added, “Let those who want to play step up and do so.”

The Black Stars are set to face Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, at 19:00 GMT, before traveling to Morocco to take on Madagascar at the Grand Stade d’Al Hoceima on Monday, March 24.
